We are supporting Tinnitus Week once again which takes place this year from 7th-13th February 2022. If you are concerned about tinnitus we advise you to learn more about the symptoms by visiting www.tinnitus.org.uk
There are many reasons why people may experience a “ringing in the ears” or other noises in the ears. This condition is known as tinnitus, characterized by an individual perceiving a sound that others around them cannot hear.
The British Tinnitus Association advises that those living with the condition may have to endure a ringing, buzzing, hissing, whistling or other noise – with sensations that can be constant or intermittent and vary in volume.
Tinnitus is not a disease or illness; symptoms are generated within the auditory system and usually caused by an underlying condition. The noise may be in one or both ears, or it may feel like it is in the head. It may be low, medium or high pitched and can be heard as a single noise or as multiple components.
HOW CAN WE HELP?
It may help tinnitus sufferers to have a consultation with a hearing professional; to check for overall ear health and/or excess ear wax, to have a hearing test, or to establish whether hearing aids might ease the tinnitus symptoms.
