Widex UK & Ireland hosted their inaugural charity gala and auction on Friday 21st October 2022, at the beautiful LSO, St Luke’s in London, The Girlings team were delighted to attend and to support two very worthwhile charities.
THE WIDEX PRESS RELEASE:
Thanks to the generosity of the guests in attendance (and some who were not), Widex are proud to have raised in excess of £17,000 (and counting), which is to be spilt between two incredibly deserving charities, Alzheimer’s Society and Claire House Children’s Hospice.
Almost 100 guests were welcomed to the home of the London Symphony Orchestra, LSO, St Luke’s, to join hosts from Widex for an evening of fundraising, networking and wining and dining, which included live auction, raffle and entertainment from a string quartet and DJ.
The incredible auction prizes on offer included a once in a lifetime South Africa Safari trip, an exclusive money can’t buy trip to the US Masters 2023 and a six-night trip to Tuscany. Many of the other prizes on offer were kindly donated by generous donors, including luxury stays, signed memorabilia and money can’t buy experiences, with the full proceeds from these prizes going to the charities.
Whilst the goal of the evening was to raise lots of money for some very deserving causes, it was a wonderful opportunity for friends and old acquaintances from across the industry to enjoy getting together and enjoying each other’s company once again after several years of restricted contact. And many were pleased to have this opportunity within a non-work-focussed environment.
The event was sponsored by Widex Moment Sheer Edition, with Widex investing significant funds to hold this unique, first of a kind event for the industry. Special thanks also goes to Platinum Sponsor, AIHHP (Association of Independent Hearing Healthcare Professionals), Gold Sponsor, Consult Search and Select and Sliver Sponsors, The Audiology Academy and Lux Integrate, all of whom helped to make the event as special as it was.
About the charities
Widex are delighted to be supporting two very special charities with this event, both of whom do incredible work helping to improve the lives of others.
Alzheimer’s Society
Alzheimer’s Society is a UK care and research charity for people with dementia and their carers. At Alzheimer’s Society, we believe passionately that life doesn’t end when dementia begins. We are here for anyone affected by dementia, and we do everything we can to keep people with dementia connected to their lives and the people who matter most.
We’re a vital source of support and a powerful force for change for everyone affected by dementia. Everything we do is shaped by people affected by dementia. Their knowledge and experience is critical to bringing about real-world solutions. From choosing the most promising research through to telling their stories to raise awareness; they are the heart of this organisation.
The link between hearing loss and dementia has become ever more evident. In working with Alzheimer’s Society Widex hope the money raised will contribute towards funding further research and to help those who are living with the condition, many of whom will also be living with hearing loss.
Claire House Children’s Hospice
Claire House Children’s Hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality to family life. By providing specialist nursing care and emotional support we help families smile again when life couldn’t get any tougher.
Claire House is about far more than just care. It is a place for children to relax and enjoy themselves, whatever their age. Whilst their children are having fun, mums and dads get the chance to enjoy some much-needed time off together or the opportunity to spend time with their other children.
Our team also goes out to visit families in their homes and we put on regular trips for brothers and sisters to ensure they don’t miss out on having fun.
Claire House is also there for parents during the toughest of times. We ensure a child’s final days are memorable and special, help families with practical issues such as funeral arrangements and provide dedicated round-the-clock support and specialist counselling.
As one family put it: “The best thing about Claire House is knowing that they are always there. From the minute you meet them for as long as you need them.”
Claire House is a charity Widex has supported for several years, being located not far from the Widex Chester offices. It is a charity which has always been close to the hearts of those within Widex UK who are proud to support this small charity which does so much to help families during the toughest times imaginable.
