We’re delighted to support Carers Week 6-12 June, an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring; which highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognises the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
Caring for somebody with a hearing loss can bring additional challenges. Your friend or relative might find it hard to understand everything that is said to them or happening around them. It is common for people with hearing loss to become confused, withdrawn and even sometimes angry. Carers need to take a good deal of patience to speak slowly and repeat themselves if necessary.
If you are caring for somebody with a hearing loss or difficulty, please do not hesitate to contact us for friendly, impartial advice.
In the meantime, you might find this Carers Week booklet useful, as it’s full of activities to help make carers visible, valued and supported. READ MORE
