We hope the following information will help you feel comfortable and in control at all times when you deal with Girlings Hearing Aid Service. Of course, please feel welcome to bring any short comings to our attention – even a good service can be improved.

The fitting

At your fitting appointment, we will set the initial hearing programme, and provide advice concerning your immediate short term expectations.

Initial consultation

We suggest you arrive 10 minutes before your appointment to allow yourself time to relax. The consultation will begin with a discussion about your medical history and an examination of your ears using an otoscope. Depending on the results of otoscopy we will conduct a hearing test to establish the thresholds of your hearing.

If the results of your hearing test show you have a hearing loss, we will take you through a full demonstration and explanation of how hearing aids can help you and of course answer any questions or concerns you may have. Depending on your circumstances we may suggest a short trial of hearing aids.

Following your trial we will discuss with you the best type and style of system to suit you and your hearing loss.

The initial consultation can last up to 2 hours and we recommend you bring a family member or friend with you to your appointment.

Follow up appointment

We will listen to and evaluate your initial experiences. On this basis we may make some adjustments to your hearing instruments. We will also arrange your next appointment. This will often be between 2 and 6 weeks depending on the progress being made.

Personal aftercare programme

When you purchase a hearing aid from us, you are not just buying a product; you are also buying an ongoing personal aftercare programme tailored to your individual needs. We guarantee you will receive expert care not only when you first come and talk to us but for as long as we are looking after your hearing health.

We are available at any time for free hearing checks or advice on your hearing aids. It is important to us that you adapt to your new hearing aids at your own pace and with all the support you need. However, we do recommend you telephone first to avoid waiting.

We aim to re-test your hearing and service your instruments at 18 month intervals. We will automatically re-call you for these appointments. However if for any reason you are unhappy with your hearing aids don’t wait – come and talk to us right away.
